Ontario’s Minimum Wage Set to Increase on October 1, 2024

Effective October 1, 2024, Ontario’s minimum wage will increase by $0.65 to $17.20 per hour for most employees. This is a 3.9% increase from the current rate and makes Ontario’s general minimum wage the second-highest provincial rate in Canada after British Columbia.

The new Ontario minimum wage rates are as follows:

General Minimum Wage $16.55 per hour $17.20 per hour
Student Minimum Wage $15.60 per hour $16.20 per hour
Hunting, Fishing and Wilderness
Guide Minimum  Wage
$82.85 (For working fewer than five consecutive hours in a day)

$165.75 (For working five or more hours in a day, consecutive or not)

$86.00 (For working fewer than five consecutive hours in in a day)

$172.05 (For working five or more hours in a day, consecutive or not)

Homeworker Minimum Wage $18.20 per hour $18.90 per hour
